The pedals Wolf Tooth Ripsaw are premium-level flat pedals, fully designed and CNC machined in the United States (Minneapolis). They stand out immediately thanks to their extremely thin and convex profile, measuring just 7 mm thick at the centre and 12.5 mm at the edges.
This unique architecture, combined with 12 stainless steel pins per side, provides phenomenal grip. The convex shape naturally follows the curvature of the foot's arch for maximum support, while the ultra-thin design considerably reduces the risk of striking rocks or roots in technical sections. Fitted with a chromoly steel axle and premium interchangeable internal components, the Ripsaw pedals are built to withstand the harshest treatment on Trail, Enduro or Downhill terrain.
Why is the pedal body convex (thicker at the edges than at the centre)? Unlike conventional concave pedals that create a cupped shape, the convex profile of the Ripsaw is designed to adapt to the natural arched shape of the foot's arch. This allows for excellent weight distribution and a sensation of being "at one" with the bike, while offering an extremely thin platform under the axle for maximum responsiveness.
What types of shoes are recommended with these pedals? To make the most of the 12 aggressive pins on the Ripsaw, it is strongly advised to use MTB-specific flat pedal shoes (fitted with soft rubber soles such as Five Ten, Shimano, Ride Concepts, etc.). The steel pins anchor directly into the rubber for a hold equivalent to a clipless system, without the lock-in.
How is bearing maintenance carried out? Maintenance is extremely straightforward and requires no complex proprietary tools. Wolf Tooth uses a highly effective internal sealing system that protects the axle. If after an intensive season of mud riding you notice slight resistance, the pedal can be fully disassembled to clean and re-grease the Igus bushing or replace the cartridge bearings in just a few minutes.
