Road brake calliper – The Caliper-type brake, with lateral pull

Theroad brake calliper is a lateral-pull Caliper-type braking system, which can be single or dual pivot. In Caliper mode, unlike a V-Brake system (MTB brake Cantilever), the brake cable is connected on the same side to both arms of the calliper. By pulling on the cable, the action of the brake lever allows its two arms to clamp the rim, and the brake pads with which they are fitted, to make contact with it. In recent years, the road brake calliper has not escaped the evolution of cycling equipment on the path to excellence: aerodynamic design, optimal lightness… Safety has not been neglected either: dual pivot models, for more powerful braking, have also emerged alongside traditional single pivot callipers!
