Dropper post – Adapt your position to the terrain!

With a dropper post, it is now possible to adjust the saddle height on your MTB to suit the gradient of the terrain! No more getting off the bike before tackling a descent to lower your MTB saddle: almost all dropper post models available on our site feature a handlebar remote, for optimal convenience! While a high saddle is a hindrance when riding downhill, it is on the other hand most comfortable and efficient when it comes to pushing a big gear. Enduro riders or All-Mountain enthusiasts not yet converted to the dropper post will find it a perfect tool to ease transitions between rolling terrain and technical sections.

Dropper post – Choosing a good dropper post: watch out for compatibility with your frame!

Dropper posts available on the market offer different saddle height adjustment options. The length and travel (downward movement of the saddle) of dropper posts vary as follows: for a 300 mm post a travel of 75 mm, for a 350 mm post a travel of 100 mm, for 385 mm or 400 mm length 125 mm of travel, and for 420 mm length 150 mm of travel. Choosing the right dropper post for your MTB must also take into account its diameter, for which several standards exist: 27.2 mm, 30.9 mm, 31.6 mm and 34.9 mm. The MTB dropper post of your choice must be compatible with the dimensions of your frame!

While compatibility with your MTB frame is obviously essential, choosing your next dropper post also means taking into account its own characteristics. Most notably its travel, depending on your body size and position on the bike. But also the operating mechanism of the dropper post, which can be mechanical or hydraulic — the latter requiring closer attention to maintenance.
