The WOLF TOOTH AERO EC44 External Headset is designed for frames compatible with semi-internal cable routing below the stem. Developed for EC44 headsets, it combines an Aero profile with a very low stack height to offer neat integration while retaining the simplicity of standard 1"1/8 stems and spacers.

Machined in the USA in aerospace 6061 aluminium, this headset stands out for its lightness and durability. Its exclusive Triple-Sealed Weatherproofing system effectively protects the bearings against water and contaminants. The stainless steel Enduro bearings, lubricated with waterproof high-pressure grease, maximise longevity and reduce maintenance requirements.

Designed for modern builds, it features six cable ports and a specific seal at the entry points to prevent any ingress. Supplied as a complete set (upper and lower cup), it benefits from Wolf Tooth's Right to Repair programme and a lifetime warranty on Enduro bearings.

Why choose an EC44 Aero model rather than a standard one? If you own a high-quality frame (steel or titanium) and want a modern look without cables "hanging" in front of the head tube, this model is the only reliable technical solution for routing cables neatly to the inside.

Is it compatible with straight-tube frames? It is designed for head tubes with a 44 mm internal diameter. To fit a tapered fork in this type of head tube, the lower cup must be of the external type (EC44).

Is stainless steel really necessary? Yes, because the cable housings passing through the headset can encourage moisture ingress. Stainless steel bearings are the only guarantee that your steering will remain smooth and free of "stiff spots" after a wet or intensive season.

Can I install it myself? Fitting the cups requires a specific cup press. For cable routing, some mechanical knowledge is required, although the semi-internal system is much easier to manage than a fully internal one.
