Description

Developed and tested in collaboration with Greg Minnaar, the MAXXIS Assegai 29x2.60" 3C tyre Maxx Terra Exo takes its name from a spear of the Zulu people of South Africa. It is therefore the perfect weapon to tackle the mountains.

It features tall knobs providing great traction and good support on dry and wet, rooty or rocky terrain. The 3C Maxx Grip compound combines three different rubber compounds: one is hard for the base of the knobs to ensure good rigidity during deformation and maintain overall precision; the second is soft for the centre knobs to optimise their deformation during braking, pedalling and clearing obstacles; and the last is very soft for the knobs on the sidewalls in order to provide maximum grip in corners.

In this Tubeless Ready version, which can be fitted with or without an inner tube, this tyre is also equipped with an Exo casing on the sidewalls, providing increased protection against abrasion and tearing.

Reviews

Tire slightly too small.

"Tire more difficult than usual to put in the rim. As a result, I had a lot of trouble getting it to stick and snap when mounted tubeless. I thought I'd never get it right despite using a compressor and removing the valve shell."
