Description

This HOPE bottom bracket shell with stainless steel bearings is an external bearing model, fitted with stainless steel bearings with a double seal and a labyrinth seal. The result is outstanding reliability and exemplary resistance to external elements.

The cups are made from high-quality aluminium and CNC machined for greater precision. Performance is also on point, thanks to direct contact between the bearings and the bottom bracket axle.

Beautifully finished, with a sturdy feel

"Ordered to install on a new 73mm frame; haven't tested it yet, but it looks promising. NOTE: SPECIAL TOOL REQUIRED (Hope HTT188) for BSA30 installation. Personally, I think this information is a bit too hidden in the product description; it would be nice if it were included with the product."

Still a little disappointed, though

"After a year and less than 2,000 km, the bearings are creaking and squeaking despite being disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and reassembled every three months. This is all the more surprising given the quality of construction and the measures taken to ensure their durability (the labyrinth seal system in particular)."

Haborym (3/5)

well-finished case

"This housing complements the purple Hope cranks and gives the build a polished look; however, it requires a special Hope tool for installation, which is not available on the website but is inexpensive (ref. Hope HTT188)."

Hope crankset

"Great gear from Hope, as usual—great finish, perfect machining, great look, etc."
