DT Swiss X 432 29" 25 mm Rim

The Rim DT Swiss X 432 is a 29-inch aluminium rim dedicated to modern Cross-Country and sport touring. Positioned as an ideal technical solution for wheel builders or to replace a damaged original rim, it provides access to DT Swiss's legendary reliability without breaking the budget.

Its great strength lies in its wider profile with a 25 mm internal width. This geometry provides excellent volume to contemporary XC tyres, stabilising the sidewalls in corners to optimise grip and efficiency at low pressure. Designed with a precision mechanical pinned rim joint (Pin Joint), it guarantees excellent structural rigidity and full compatibility with tubeless setups.

What is the difference between this rim and a higher-end model like the XR 391? The main difference lies in the assembly method and weight. The XR range uses a welded joint (SBWT) and a higher-grade aluminium, saving weight on the scales (around 50 g less). The X 432 uses a pinned joint (Pin Joint): it is slightly heavier, but it offers the same modern 25 mm internal width and excellent rigidity at a significantly lower cost.

Which tyre sizes are recommended for this rim? With its 25 mm internal width, this rim is optimised for Cross-Country and light Trail tyres measuring between 2.10 and 2.35 in section. This is the ideal range for achieving the best compromise between speed, tyre weight and casing deformation over obstacles.

Is it compatible with electric-assist bikes (e-MTB)? It is approved for ASTM category 3 with a total weight limit of 110 kg. It can therefore be perfectly suited to a lightweight XC-oriented e-MTB. However, for a heavy electric bike or committed Enduro riding, it is strongly advised to look towards the reinforced rims from DT Swiss's H (Hybrid) or E (Enduro) ranges.
