SHIMANO XTR BR-M9000 2-Piston Post Mount Brake Caliper

The SHIMANO XTR BR-M9000 Brake Caliper is the Race version of the XTR M9000 generation, developed for Cross-Country competition. Designed for front or rear wheel use with a Post Mount fitting, it prioritises lightness without sacrificing the braking power required for technical XC terrain.

Its distinctive feature is its varnished magnesium body, a material significantly lighter than conventional aluminium while retaining good stiffness. It incorporates 2 ceramic pistons, complemented by an insulating CFRP coating (carbon fibre-reinforced composite material) that limits brake fluid temperature rise.

The supplied pads are resin pads without cooling fins, a popular compromise in competition for their good modulation and quiet operation. Ice Technologies remains compatible with this caliper for riders wishing to enhance thermal control.

As with the entire XTR range, bleeding the hydraulic circuit is made easier by the One Way Bleeding system, which optimises the flow of SHIMANO mineral oil to efficiently remove air bubbles. The titanium mounting bolts supplied with the caliper also help reduce the system’s overall weight.
