The Base Layer Assos Summer SS Skin Layer P1 is a technical short-sleeve base layer designed to be worn directly against the skin under your cycling jersey. A true body thermostat for summer rides in warm conditions, this first layer instantly wicks moisture away from the skin and transfers it to the outer layers, accelerating evaporation.
The short-sleeve version delivers superior thermal and mechanical comfort compared to the sleeveless model by effectively absorbing perspiration at the underarms, preventing sweat salt from building up on your race jersey. Made using Assos's seamless tubular technology, it eliminates all friction points on the sides to deliver the iconic "second skin" effect that the Swiss brand is known for.

Why choose the short-sleeve version (SS) over the sleeveless model (NS)? The short-sleeve version is particularly recommended if you perspire heavily from the upper body, as it blocks moisture at the underarms before it reaches the jersey. It is also very comfortable under modern fitted race jerseys whose aero or laser-cut sleeves can rub directly against the skin.
Is it visible under a lightweight or white cycling jersey? No. Available in Assos's signature white colourway (Holy White), this base layer is specially designed to remain completely invisible and discreet, even under the thinnest, lightest or most open-mesh summer race fabrics on the market.
How should it be cared for to preserve its technical properties? Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle. Always use a laundry bag to prevent the fabric from catching on zips or Velcro fasteners of your other kit. Do not add fabric softener (which clogs the breathable fibres) and leave it to air dry (no tumble dryer).
