Camelbak – Inventor of the hydration pack

Camelbak, legend has it that it all started in 1988 during the "Hotter'N Hell", a 100-mile race in the Texan desert in the height of summer. A modest participant invented an ingenious way to refuel easily and gain an advantage over the more experienced competitors: a nurse by trade, he borrowed an intravenous bag which he filled with water. He then put the bag in a sock, sewed it onto the back of his jersey, ran the tube over his shoulder and secured it with a clothes peg! A few years later, the system was refined and Camelbak became the world leader in hydration packs.
