MAVIC COMETE 85 Tubeless Ready Wheelset (Center Lock)

The MAVIC COMETE 85 Wheelset is developed for time trials and triathlon, prioritising speed and aerodynamic efficiency. Its 85 mm Aero Wide rim profile is combined with an internal width of 23 mm and an external width of 31 mm, optimised for modern 28 mm tyres.

The construction is based on a 100% carbon design incorporating Adaptive Layup technology. The use of T700, T1000 and 3K fibres delivers an excellent balance of stiffness, weight and responsiveness. With a claimed weight of 1,750 g for the pair, this configuration maintains a level of lightness tailored to the demands of time trials and triathlon.

The 21 Mavic Aero Carbon spokes contribute directly to the wheel's aerodynamic performance. Their configuration includes 14 two-cross spokes and 7 radial spokes to achieve a balance between lateral stiffness, power transfer and drag reduction. The design was notably developed and validated through wind tunnel testing.

The hub features Mavic Ceramic bearings and the ID360 40T freewheel system, engineered to ensure near-instant engagement. The hubs feature an aluminium body, 12 mm thru-axles and a Center Lock brake interface. The wheel is compatible with multiple freehub body standards.

The COMETE 85 is compatible with tubeless tyres, tubeless ready tyres and inner tube setups. The recommended tyre width is 28 mm, with ETRTO compatibility from 28 to 65 mm. Hand-built by Mavic experts and laboratory-tested, the wheelset comes with tubeless valves, pre-installed tubeless rim tape and Mavic wheel bags.
