The AERON ExtraLite Protect MTB inner tube applies TPU technology to off-road riding, where the benefit is felt twice over: in the rotating mass of a 29-inch wheel and in the space it takes up once folded in your backpack. AERON/TPU is a brand of the German RTI Sports group — the company behind Ergon — and is manufactured in Austria.

Rated Level 3 “Endurance / High Performance”, it prioritises the best balance of puncture protection, low weight and low rolling resistance. On the manufacturer's scale, it scores 75/100 in all three criteria, whereas a butyl inner tube tops out at 50, 20 and 40. It is the right choice for cross-country and trail riding, whether as your main tube or a spare.

It covers a very wide 1.7 to 2.5-inch range, in both 27.5 and 29 inches — one reference to equip two bikes or two wheel sizes. TPU's high elasticity, combined with the material's strength, provides a good level of puncture protection. Polymer Presta valve, 42 mm.
