Belonging to the company Rex Articoli Tecnici SA, founded in 1935 by engineer Ignazio Favini, SWISSSTOP has earned its place among cycling enthusiasts by offering components for braking of unquestionable quality. Indeed, from its very beginnings, Rex had specialised in the manufacture of chemical products. First, adhesives for the footwear industry. Then, elastomer-based adhesives and rubber compounds. The brand subsequently developed compounds for direct vulcanisation, before ultimately focusing on the manufacture of rubber products. Innovation and process mastery led it to become market leader in this sector. The company, which had already begun manufacturing bicycle brake pads in the 1960s (even becoming the original equipment manufacturer for several of the era's leading brake manufacturers), decided in 1991 to launch its own private label SwissStop, with which it continued its decades-long tradition of research, development and production of bicycle brakes.
