The TOPEAK upgrade kit ChuckHead DX is a high-performance inflation head designed to solve the problem of hard-to-reach valves. Its ultra-slim head and 90° angled connector make it easy to connect to Presta valves, even in the tight spaces of "bladed spoke" wheels or deep-section road rims.
Unlike conventional pump heads that require a bulky side lever, the ChuckHead DX uses an axial pressure or threaded locking system (depending on the mounting) that guarantees a perfect seal with no air loss, even at pressures exceeding 11 bar (160 psi).
Does it work with Schrader valves (wide valves)? No, the ChuckHead DX is a specific technical component optimised for Presta valves. For full compatibility, look towards the SmartHead or TwinHead kits.
Is it compatible with valve extenders? Absolutely. That is in fact its primary use. It fits perfectly with the valve extenders used on 50mm, 60mm or 80mm carbon rims.
Does the head screw onto the valve? The DX system uses an internal compression mechanism that firmly grips the Presta valve thread to prevent any air loss during inflation.
Can I fit it on a pump from another brand (e.g. Zéfal, Lezyne, JoeBlow)? Yes, thanks to the supplied connection adapters, this kit is designed to be "universal" and breathe new life into a pump whose original head is faulty or unsuitable.
