Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between GMS-series grips and the GA series (GA2 / GA3)?

The GMS (Gravity Mountain) is optimised for aggressive downhill riding, with a rubber profile that offers more cushioning under the upper palm and a highly grippy texture beneath the fingers. The GA range offers a slightly more versatile profile, sometimes with small wings (GA3), for touring or smoother trail riding.

Are these grips compatible with carbon handlebars?

Yes, absolutely. The internal aluminium clamp distributes pressure evenly. Just follow Ergon’s recommended tightening torque (3 Nm) to avoid damaging the carbon.

Can the bar end plugs be replaced if they break in a fall?

Yes. The end of the grip has a reinforced, impact-resistant plug that protects the handlebar. If it becomes badly worn after repeated falls, the plug can be replaced separately.

Can they be fitted to an electric mountain bike (E-MTB)?

Yes. Their secure lock-on fit and the cushioning provided by the rubber compound make them particularly well suited to the extra weight and demands of electric mountain bikes.
