Road rims and wheel parts

What you’ll find in this range

There are three product groups here: the bare rims, the rim tapes standard ones for use with an inner tube, and a few wheel parts — Zipp spokes, axle kits and wheel bags.

Bare rims

• Individual rims — Enve SES, DT Swiss E 470 and E 550, Mavic Cosmic — for building a wheel or replacing a warped rim while keeping the hub.
• Front and rear rim kits Mavic, which are made for a specific wheel model: Cosmic SL, Ksyrium 30 Disc or Allroad SL Carbon.
• Replacing the rim on a complete wheel often costs much less than a new wheel, and is the only option when the hub is still good.
• Check the number of spoke holes and the brake type : a Cosmic S40 RB is designed for rim brakes, not disc brakes.

Standard rim tapes

• These are the strips that protect the inner tube from the spoke nipples: Continental Easy Tape, Ritchey, Zipp, Panaracer Poly-Lite.
• Choose them according to the internal rim width — 15, 16, 17, 18 or 20 mm — and the diameter, 700c or 650b.
• The high-pressure from Continental becomes necessary above 8 bar: standard rim tape deforms into the spoke holes and eventually causes a puncture.
• They are quite different from the adhesive tubeless rim tapes, found in the tubeless kits section: the former make the rim airtight, while the latter only protect the tube.

The rest

Replacement Zipp spokes, Mavic axle kits, hub conversion kits and wheel bags for transport. These are specific parts best searched for by reference rather than description.
