This page brings together Cane Creek suspension seatposts — Thudbuster and eeSilk — and, above all, the replacement elastomers, which make up the bulk of the range. That makes sense: on these seatposts, the elastomer provides both the adjustment and the replaceable wear part.

What is a suspension seatpost for

• It absorbs the vibrations and small bumps that travel up through the saddle — precisely what neither the tyres nor the rear suspension fully absorb.
• It eases strain on your lower back during long rides: touring, gravel and bikepacking.
• It's particularly useful for riders on rigid and hardtail bikes, and riders with sensitive backs or tailbones.
• It doesn't replace rear suspension and offers no benefit on demanding descents: it's designed for long hours in the saddle.

Thudbuster or eeSilk

• Thudbuster : a long-travel parallelogram design, available in ST (short-travel) or LT (long-travel) versions. Designed for mountain biking and rough tracks.
• eeSilk : more discreet, with shorter travel, designed for gravel and road riding. Also available in carbon.
• Both use elastomers, with no spring or hydraulics: nothing to bleed, no pressure to adjust, and performance unaffected by cold weather.

Choosing the right elastomer

• It's the adjustment of the seatpost, and you choose it according to your weight and the firmness you want.
• Firmness levels range fromextra soft to extra firm, numbered or named depending on the range.
• Too soft : the seatpost bottoms out and feels spongy when pedalling.
• Too firm : it doesn't compress, so you're carrying a component without getting any benefit from it.
• The elastomers are specific to each model and generation : a G4 ST takes neither G3 nor G4 LT elastomers. Check the exact model reference.

Maintenance

The elastomer hardens and loses travel over time, particularly if left outside through winter. Rebuild kits and pivot covers can be replaced separately. On a seatpost that's several years old, a set of new elastomers restores its original performance for a fraction of the cost of a new seatpost.
